The food was pretty good and the service was great. We ordered the brie and the chicken wings as an appetizer. Both were very good. I ordered the seared trout for dinner. It was a bit bland, but overall it wasn't too bad.
I came here on a Tuesday evening at 5:30pm with a group of 4. Originally the host was going to place us at a booth, but when we asked to be placed at a table, they were more than willing to make that switch. It did help that it was not very crowded that night. We had one waiter come get our drink order only for a new waiter to come to our table and end up being our main waiter the entire night. The food came out within a reasonable time after ordering. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries and ranch. The pulled pork was tender and the BBQ sauce paired well. The fries were a great balance of crunch while also soft on the inside and I loved the ranch.
We visited this restaurant on the last evening of our summer convention in Winston Salem. Usually having a very light lunch and volunteering we're pretty hungry by dinner time. River Birch did not disappoint! We were seated immediately, our waitress was friendly and professional and asked if we had any questions. When I asked about gluten free options she said they had many and a seperate menu which she went to get. I was expecting a printed sheet of paper like in so many restaurants but this was an actual menu and she was right it was full of options, so many it was hard to choose from. For an appetizer we got the Lodge Chips and the sauce on the side, they were so delicious they were gone by the time our entree arrived. I got the cedar plank salmon with thai ginger sauce, the salmon was cooked perfectly and the sauce was full of flavor without being heavy, the sweet potato mash was so yummy with the perfect amount cinnamon, the brussel sprouts were roasted very well and both my husband and I enjoyed our meals thoroughly, not to mention the fire grill fragrance and the lodge feel which just puts you in a relaxed frame of mind you actually feel like like you're in the mountains and only when you go back outside you realize it's 100° and you're not lol! We will definitely be back! And my husband was so impressed they had gluten free dessert a butter rum cake with roasted pecans he ordered it for me to take home which I ate the next day and it was still delicious and rich!
Met a group here for retirement lunch a couple of weeks ago. Service was super...no refills, food took a very long time, waiter was inattentive and needed to be reminded of small requests multiple times....food was enjoyable once it finally came out
I stayed for section hours due to back to back brunch meetings today!! Several of the servers knew me because this is one of my favorite places ever!! The food was awesome, the service is always polite, professional, and on point (accurate). The atmosphere is warm and inviting! I sat in the bar for the first time and didn't realize the bar had tables!! Watch the game and transitioned between meetings beautifully!! We will definitely return! Must haves: Lavender Martini Tomato Basil Mama's Lasagna Prime Rib Collard Greens Pizza Butter Rum Cake You know what: you can't go wrong with anything on the menu!!
