Founded by Lauren Dillon, OnlineKix helps local businesses get found, get chosen and get more reviews using simple systems, smart AI tools and affordable monthly support. It’s practical help built for owners who watch every dollar.
For Lauren Dillon, business growth doesn’t have to begin with a sweeping overhaul or a large marketing bill.
It starts with understanding what’s missing—and choosing a manageable next step.
Based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Lauren considers herself a Joyful Evolver and maintains a teaching-focused personal blog built around simple systems, reviews, AI and the internet. She also created this community resource website to give back to the small businesses that make our communities great, with free online exposure and no costly ads.
She offers two paths: learning how to do the work through Joyful Evolver and getting help putting it into practice through her digital agency OnlineKix.
Lauren has run marketing teams and engineered AI tools, systems and automation for more than 20 years.
Her frustration with costly providers that she felt delivered too little helped shape a different approach:
Joyful Evolver reflects her personality as much as her experience—optimistic, curious and always learning.
Through notes, tips, books, guides and workshops, she shares ways to tackle specific problems, including projects intended to be manageable over a weekend.
Her audience includes local business owners, consultants, e-commerce brands and executives.
When the DIY approach reaches its limits, she can help put strategy into action with monthly bundled services provided by OnlineKix.
In an interview with our editorial team, Lauren is clear about the trade-off: this isn’t bespoke, custom service, and that helps keep it affordable.
That approach also runs through nclocalbusiness.com, which Dillon created during COVID to give North Carolina businesses more online exposure without the high cost of advertising. Signing up is free and she personally creates and maintains every feature profile on this site to keep things easy for the owners that support being a part of the community.
Another project, ReviewIdea, provides four free tools designed to help businesses:
Together, these projects connect her teaching with practical resources for businesses trying to strengthen their online presence.
Her approach includes tools that help owners compare their businesses with competitors, identify gaps and consider where investment makes sense before spending too much, too quickly.
“I try to keep things simple. For a small-business owner watching every monthly expense, the challenge is not simply finding marketing help. It is figuring out what deserves attention, what can wait, and whether paying for another service will make a meaningful difference,” Lauren says.
Looking ahead, Dillon’s ambition is less about a numerical milestone than a human impression:
she wants people who meet her to feel they have found someone who genuinely cares about helping them.
