Nothing against this firm in terms of expenses, Divorce is an expensive ordeal and does take significant research and work to formalize a proper agreement based on special situations and individual situations. While one must be prepared for such legal costs over all the experience with Hartsoe and Associates was amazing. Specially, me being in the US Army, I was not always available for reaching out to, but despite they handled my case exceptionally well and came out with an amicable out of court settlement ! which is something I wanted from the start. Thank you Steven Grainger in particular for your legal representation and also the staff in connection.

Wow what an outstanding firm..Even though they were not able to assist me in my unique situation, they still took the time to advise me in path I needed to take and gave me a referral to somewhere that might be able to help..even took the time to call me back just to give me more information that could help me.. I really hate that they couldn't help me because this is the type of firm I want to represent me. Someone who is there for the client and not the pay check...thanks again for the help.

I would rate him in the negative if possible. Beware of this group and really do your research on any attorney before you sign a contract and give them money. They're all thieves. My divorce cost 4x more than it should for only going to mediation. Hartsoe also charges for ever email, which was not known from the beginning and depleted my funds rapidly. He constantly asked in email the same questions over and over which just kept taking money. Hartsoe also took vacation ever month. I can see how that possible when you're stealing others money for doing nothing. I also was pawned off to Jeremy who is a complete idiot and nothing more than a bad office assistant. Besides being ripped off financial, it seemed like he worked for my ex and his attorney more than he worked me. It was extremely hard to get anything done and I finally fired him. Beware of any attorney in Forsyth and Davie County. They are all buddies and are only out to keep your money rolling in to them while they drag out your case.

Very friendly team, approachable and knowledgeable. They helped get our small business on track by gently correcting many things we had started blindly.

They got my divorce finalized, but there were so many things that caused my divorce to take longer than it should have and parts that frustrated me to the point like I felt as I was dealing with people that were working against me. I emailed my concerns with T Hartsoe and he addressed some of my questions. but ignored others. Let me start with the positive. -Debbie is very nice and always tries to be as helpful as she can be. -Mary and Bennett (all who are no longer there) also seemed very nice and efficient and were professional and compassionate. -Jeremy (also no longer there) was also nice seemed to be doing a decent job for the short time I was working with him. So the retainer "cost" as well as the "trust" I agreed to as well as the hourly charges which is charged in increments and is 100 % fine.. I agreed to this. **Issues Mind I am talking about the different issues but a lot of these things were snowball effects/intertwined. the part that was not okay was the part of the agreement that when the trust was "low" and got to $X amount I was to receive notification to replenish the trust. I never received notifications of this, I only received a bill, saying my trust was "depleted and I now owe xyz AND you need to replenish the trust" So I paid xyz and then replenished the trust with what I had which was not the quite the X amount. The same type of situation happened again and I replenished with the full X amount. Work was being done, FINALLY (I will explain more) got the separation agreement done and all of that out of the way. I was relieved. This all finished up a few weeks before the 1 year of separation that NC requires before you can divorce. When it was a few days (if I recall properly) I called and spoke with Mary and asked about the actual divorce portion. She said yes, but normally we charge Xx as a flat divorce fee, but they would just continue my case since they are already on retainer at the charge amount we agreed on.... At this point I had not gotten any notices or bills thinking I had money in the trust. Then I received a bill and a request to replenish my trust... the bill was for over 1,000... plus wanting me to replenish my trust again.. C.C. Paralegal...She no longer works there. At first I thought she was just very to the point which was fine, then there was a phone call that we were discussing something and she wasn't understanding what I was explaining about not being able to get account transferred and a few other things issue involving this. She was very rude and argumentative so I decided we should end the call and not have her charge me to argue with me. Since this phone call went on for at least 30 minutes. So again when I started I was with Bennett. Bennett left the practice so I now was with Jeremy. We did the "free" update meeting so he could get up to date on my case. Then when getting an email from him summarizing there was incorrect information that seemed to be from a different case. This also happened with incorrect address on some forms that had other clients addresses in it. *mind I am being charged for SOME of these mistakes/ misunderstandings. We are getting some work done a few weeks later.. NOTHING, I hear nothing for a month, I assumed it was just some inner workings going on. I call and speak to CC. and then there is a exit letter for Jeremy, he's now left the practice as well. Mind you Bennett & Jeremy's hourly fees are one thing but T. Hartsoe is 37% more an hour for his. (yes he's the partner, well at that point the only lawyer left) but my case wasn't that complicated he wouldn't have normally be involved much if at all. So I got another "free" meeting to update T.H. on my case..... and then a follow up email... so I felt like we were getting somewhere..maybe...even though the follow up email was a summarization of our phone call I believe I was NOT charged for that, thankfully. Moral of the story is buyer beware, and if you do use them be diligent and make sure they update your billing....
